How Much Jennifer Lopez and Shakira Earned for Their Super Bowl Halftime Performance

JLo and Shakira brought the Latin rhythms that characterize them to the Super Bowl and they did so accompanied by Bad Bunny and J Balvin. But how much did the artists earn for their performance during half-time in the match? On the one hand it is much less than you imagine and at the same time much more.

Everyone's question today is without a doubt: how much did Jennifer Lopez and Shakira earn from the Super Bowl? Taking into account that almost 6 million dollars are paid for advertisements and that it is the most watched sporting event in the United States… at least a few million, right?

Well, it turns out it's the opposite. Neither of the two artists has received a single penny, or rather a penny, for the 15-minute concert they gave last night in Miami. Nothing, zero. Now, that does not mean that they have not won in other things, of course.

To begin with, they have been able to design the stage and the performance with everything they wanted and more, since they have not had to pay anything for it. It has been the NFL (the National Football League) that has been in charge of everything. And it seems that they could have spent up to a million dollars on the show.

But where Jennifer Lopez and Shakira really won with their Super Bowl performance was in advertising. They will not have received any check but the benefit of being part of a show of this caliber is much greater.

Neither Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 or Katy Perry pocketed money for singing at halftime, but they were rewarded in different ways just like JLo and Shakira will.

For example, Maroon 5 went from earning $200,000 per concert to $1.7 million, not bad. Plays of Justin Timberlake's songs jumped 214% on Spotify after his second run on the Pepsi Halftime Show.

According to Forbes, Lady Gaga's album rose from No. 62 to No. 2 on Billboard in 2017 in the week that followed what many consider the best Super Bowl performance. And Prince in 2007 achieved 102 thousand downloads of his music in the weekend but not by streaming, but online purchase.

Visits to websites to buy tickets for Beyoncé and Gaga concerts are up 100%, but even those invited to the performances are rewarded. Travis Scott who sang with Maroon 5 went from earning $500,000 to $1 million per concert and Missy Elliot had almost 40,000 downloads of the two songs he performed with Katy Perry.

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez earn 1.6 and 2.2 million dollars respectively per concert, so it can be expected that after their collaboration in the Super Bowl 2020 those numbers will go up, that people will download their songs even more and why not that one of his past albums rise from the ashes.

The same will happen with Bad Bunny and J Balvin of course, especially the latter, who exclusively presented his first sneakers in collaboration with Nike during the break. They will be a guaranteed success.
