Kissing American Idol auditioners, Katy Perry reaps controversy Photo
Katy Perry is in the middle of a controversy. This Orlando Bloom lover caused a scandal when he spontaneously kissed one of the contestants auditioning for the American Idol talent show.
In the premiere episode of the latest season of American Idol that aired on ABC on Sunday, March 11, Katy kissed the lips of contestant named Benjamin Glaze. The shocking moment was broadcast throughout the country and is now a public talk.
During an interview with the New York Post, Benjamin admitted that he was uncomfortable with a kiss from Katy. The reason, Ben claims it was the first kiss he should give to his beloved.
"I'm a little uncomfortable. Would I have done it if she (Katy) said, 'Will you kiss me?' No. I would say no. For me, I grew up in a conservative family and I wasn't comfortable. I want my first kiss to be special," Ben said as quoted by Entertainment Weekly, Thursday (15/3/2018).
The moment occurred when the jury asked if Ben had ever kissed before. The contestant from Oklohama said he had never been because he had never been in a relationship. That's when Katy asked him to kiss her cheek. At the second request, Katy turned her face to finally kiss Ben on the lips.
As soon as the incident spread, the public immediately criticized Katy. Many say that Katy has sexually harassed Ben.
But Ben rejected the idea. Although uncomfortable with the kiss, the 20-year-old said he did not feel sexually harassed by Katy.
"I'm glad she (Katy) did it because it was a great opportunity to bring out my musical abilities. They agreed with me that it didn't count as a kiss. It's just lip-smacking, not a romantic situation with someone you love."
Ben also tried to provide clarification to the public. Through Instagram, Ben stated that he had no problem with a kiss from Katy. Ben also regretted the news from the media that misunderstood the meaning of his statement in the interview.
