Miley Cyrus suffered a wardrobe malfunction at the MTV VMAs
The reaction to Miley Cyrus' 2013 VMAs outfit impacted her fashion choices for years. During a March 2020 episode of her Instagram Live series "Bright Minded: Live with Miley," she revealed that people making fun of her by comparing her to poultry really got her down.
"I was so skinny and so pasty and they kept putting me next to this turkey, and I felt so bad about myself that I didn't wear a bikini for about two years," a- she said, according to People. But when she returned to the awards show to host in 2015, she seemed to have firmly put all that insecurity behind her.
Cyrus walked the red carpet in an Atelier Versace design that InStyle called "outrageous." It consisted of silver suspenders with nothing underneath and a net-like "skirt" made from strands of crystals. But that wasn't the only look she wore that left little to the imagination. She then changed into a sheer Simone Harouche dress decorated with inflatable round discs that barely covered her NSFW bits.
It looked like a clear candy wrapper with counterfeit M&Ms stuck on it. Cyrus also suffered a slight wardrobe malfunction while shaking the garment, as evidenced by a blurry photo posted by Us Weekly. One of her nipples was also caught on camera while she was getting changed backstage (via The Hollywood Reporter).
