Nicole Kidman Gets a Shocking Makeover in Her Upcoming Movie, 'Destroyer'

For the actress, the least important thing is to look pretty or ugly. The important thing is to be part of projects led by women.

There is an unwritten rule that to be a good actor you must undergo whatever physical transformations are necessary. And the more extreme, the better. You just have to take a look at international and national cinema to remember a good number of titles in which their leading actors lost weight or gained weight, or were subjected to extreme weather conditions.

But if there is something that the Academy (and the public that follows it) especially likes, it is that a beautiful actress undergoes a makeover that supposedly does her a disservice. And if not, let's remember Charlize Theron in Monster, with Oscar included. When this happens, there is a consensus that dictates that we are facing the 'paper' of the year.

The last to do so has been one of the oldest, Nicole Kidman, who has been part of the cast of Destroyer, a thriller in which she plays a member of the Los Angeles police named Erin Bell, with a difficult past.

In the film, which opens in the United States on Christmas Day, Kidman plays a woman with short, gray hair who seems jaded. In the first photo that has been leaked, she appears older than usual and is not wearing makeup (at least, not the one she beautifies).

But, for the actress, her appearance is the least of it: the important thing is to be part of an interesting project directed by a woman. In this case, Karyn Kusama, who is also responsible for other titles such as The Room or Jennifer's Body.

A few years ago, Kidman already warned that, from then on, she would bother to choose proposals from film directors. "It's the only way the numbers will change, when we women start saying, 'Now I'll only work with one woman.' Every 18 months, there has to be a female film director in the equation,” she assured in an interview for The Sunday Morning Herald.

“ We, as women, must support filmmakers. And hopefully, things will change over time, because now everyone says 'everything is different now', but it is not, ”she also told The Guardian newspaper at the time. In any case, she is taking important steps so that this reality begins to change.

In addition to her project with Kusama, Kidman just finished shooting Big Little Lies 2, alongside her lover **Reese Witherspoon,** and this time also alongside Meryl Streep. We will remain attentive to her next projects; I'm sure we find them interesting.
