Oscar 2022: Lady Gaga fans were outraged because the actress was not nominated
Through social networks, many people expressed surprise and anger that her great work at La Casa Gucci did not earn her an Academy Award nomination.
With the revelation of the nominees for the Oscars 2022, the controversies also arrived. Through social networks, people expressed their satisfaction and discontent with the candidates to take one of the most coveted statuettes in the film industry.
Among those angry were fans of Lady Gaga, who were outraged that the star was not nominated for best actress for her breakout role in The House of Gucci. That category will instead be contested by Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Kristen Stewart.
Gaga was one of the favorites to get a nomination this year, having been chosen as a candidate to take the title of best actress at the Critics Choice Awards, the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the BAFTA Film Awards, the four ceremonies that precede (and prepare the ground) for the Oscars. In addition, the singer was named best actress by the New York Film Critics Circle.
Many award forecasters expected Stewart to be the one left out of the Oscars shortlist, due to her not being a SAG and BAFTA nominee. However, her fans woke up happy to hear that she will compete for the award.
“Applause for Lady Gaga who was shunned but made Oscar season more fun with her wacky stories,” one user wrote on Twitter. “So Lady Gaga was nominated at all the BIG ceremonies but not at the Oscars? This scene alone deserves an Oscar, Gaga was assaulted, "was another comment. Like these, many other posts showed a general discomfort with the decision.
So Lady Gaga got nominated in all the MAJOR awards but didn’t get an Oscar one? . This scene is OSCAR WORTHY and Gaga was ROBBED pic.twitter.com/GYVaqvcAiN

Gaga's Oscar nomination comes after the actress spent months campaigning for the role of Maurizio Gucci's wife, Patrizia Reggiani. At a press tour, the star made headlines by revealing that she used method acting techniques, which included speaking with an Italian accent for nine months before filming began and having a psychiatric nurse on set to monitor her.
Beyond the Gaga category, it was a difficult morning for The House of Gucci, which also does not appear in the nominations for best film and best director. The singer's co-star, Jared Leto, was also snubbed in the fight for best supporting actor, despite his SAG and Critics Choice Award nominations. The film only managed to enter one category: makeup and hairdressing, an award that Frederic Aspiras could win.
Kristen Stewart's surprise
Thanks to her interpretation of Princess Diana of Wales in the feature film “Spencer”, Kristen Stewart got her first Oscar nomination. When those in charge of announcing the candidates said her name, social networks exploded in surprise with the election.
In the year that marks the tenth anniversary of the premiere of the last Twilight movie, the saga that brought Stewart to fame, her fans celebrated that she was finally recognized by the academy. "We've been here since 2008. What a great time to be a Kristen Stewart fan," wrote one Twitter user, one of many who expressed her happiness.
