Benjamin of a family of three brothers, he was born on November 4, 1969 in Texas. He made his acting debut in 1993 in Rebel Generation alongside other future stars like Ben Affleck or Milla Jovovich. In 2014 it was his bluffing interpretation of a rodeo fan, diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 in Dallas Buyers Club – he lost more than twenty kilos for the role – which earned him praise and a shower of awards including the Golden Globe and the Best Actor Oscar. That same year he made his TV series co-star debut with Woody Harrelson in True Detective.
