Child of the ball, Patricia Arquette was born on April 8, 1968 in Chicago into a family of artists. Granddaughter of comedian and screenwriter Cliff Arquette and daughter of comic actor Lewis Arquette, all the siblings carry on the family tradition and practice the same profession; Rosanna, David, Alexis and Richmond. Patricia grew up in Los Angeles and took drama lessons with Milton Katselas. A precocious teenager, she left home at the age of 15 and went to live with her older sister, Rosanna Arquette (born in 1959). She got her first role at 19, in Pretty Smart in 1987.
After participating in Sean Penn's first film, The Indian Runner in 1991, Patricia Arquette's career exploded with the role of Alabama, a call girl, alongside Christian Slater, in True Romance, written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott in 1993. Her filmography was enriched by various roles and prestigious collaborations in the 90s. In 1995, she appeared in the adventure film Rangoon by John Boorman, the following year she appeared in David Lynch's Lost Highway, then in Roland Joffré's thriller Goodbye Lover in 1999. Also in 1999, she starred in Martin Scorsese's drama Open Tomb, in which she co-starred with her husband in the city, Nicolas Cage . Independent actress, Patricia Arquette fled the Hollywood star-system and moved away from film sets during the 2000s. At that time, she became a key figure on the small screen with the series Medium, broadcast between 2005 and 2011. In 2005, this role, inspired by the real story of the clairvoyant Allison DuBois, allows her to win an Emmy Award, that of the best actress of series. But in July 2011 the couple divorced. Patricia Arquette was also married to actor Nicolas Cage (1995–2001).
