The rumours emerged on Twitter, spreading quickly on the social networking site until 'Zac Efron's' became a trending topic. However, the photographs were quickly deemed to be fake by fans of the star when similarities were noticed with an old photo of the actor.
Zac's fans quickly used their Photoshop skills to prove the picture was a fake, but by this time, many Twitter users had seen the offending pictures. One user Tweeted: "Just learned why 'Zac Efron's' is trending. Is it possible to un-see things?"
Other stars to be hit with similar rumours include Blake Lively and Selena
Gomez, who have both come out and said the pictures were fakes.
