Eva Mendes says there aren't many roles she'd do now that she has two daughters: 'I have to set an example'
Now that she's mother to five-year-old daughter Esmeralda and three-year-old daughter Amada, Eva Mendes is waiting for 'something worthwhile to be apart of' before coming out of acting retirement.
'As a mother now, there are many roles I won't do,' the 45-year-old designer replied to a fan on her January 7 sponsored post for Avon.
'There are many subject matters that I don't want to be involved with, so it limits my choices and I'm fine with that. I have to set an example for my girls now. But no worry, I got some side hustles. Ha! Thanks for asking. All the best for 2020!'
It's unclear if Eva was referring to going clear to play Sara, the mistress of Denzel Washington's corrupt detective character Alonzo, in Antoine Fuqua's 2001 thriller Training Day.
Perhaps Mendes was referring to her role as a model called Kay M. kidnapped by the fully-clear Monsieur Merde (Denis Lavant) in Leos Carax's mesmerizing 2012 fantasy flick, Holy Motors.
Throughout her career, the Miami-born, LA-raised stunner worked with respected filmmakers like Werner Herzog, Robert Rodriguez, James Gray, Frank Miller, and Greg Mottola.
Eva also acted in lighter popcorn fare like A Night at the Roxbury, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch, Stuck on You, Ghost Rider, The Women, and The Other Guys.
On New Year's Eve, Mendes singled out her babydaddy Ryan Gosling's 2014 directorial debut Lost River as her 'proudest' acting gig of the last decade.
'There was one film I'm extra proud to be a part of,' the CSUN drop-out - who boasts 5.7M social media followers - gushed.
'A dark fairy tale. A magical fantasy. To all the struggling single mothers, to all of us in cities that feel like they're burning down or flooding around us, to everyone fighting for the ones they love, this was a good one.'
Eva seemingly retired from acting after portraying a gore-style cabaret dancer called Cat in the forgettable flick, which scored 31% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned $615K at the box office.
During a SXSW Q&A in 2014, the Canadian 39-year-old likened Mendes (born de la Caridad Méndez) to an 'unpaid intern' despite her contributions to the script and costumes.
The Cuban-American Latina first fell in love with the two-time Oscar nominee on the 2011 set of Derek Cianfrance's crime-drama The Place Beyond the Pines in which they have a son.
Ryan had a habit of romancing his leading ladies after relationships with The Notebook's Rachel McAdams and Murder By Numbers' Sandra Bullock.
Career-wise, Eva - who don't employ babysitters or nannies - has been collaborating with fashion label New York & Company since 2013.
Ominously, Gosling hasn't secured an acting gig since voicing the Blue Penguin in Julio Torre's HBO stand-up comedy special My Favorite Shapes back in August.
The former Mouseketeer previously played real-life astronaut Neil Armstrong in Damien Chazelle's 2018 biopic First Man, which scored 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and amassed $105.7M at the box office.
