Lady Gaga's style under debate: futuristic fashion muse or just tacky?
You all remember that Lady Gaga became the worst dressed celebrity of 2009, but in your comments many of you stated that her nomination was not fair. She dresses to put on a show, her outfits are so flashy and original that they border on artistic, and even in Vogue she was nominated for best dressed celebrity alongside Rihanna in the “new extreme” category.
So we are going to review some of her most outrageous looks and discuss whether Lady Gaga's style is worthy of being admired by fashion lovers, and her clothes can be considered as art performances, or if we are facing an authentic bowling alley
Logically, none of her outfits can be worn by a normal person who goes to the University, goes to work or picks up the children from school (can you imagine it?), but she is a media character in the world of music in which the impressive image, the transgression and the scandal are a plus.
It is something similar to what Madonna did in the 1980s and early 1990s. In her day, her Jean Paul Gaultier corsets or the clothes she wore in Desperately Seeking Susan shocked us, but seen over the years, those images were the icon of an entire generation and their influence on fashion is undeniable.
Today, when we have seen everything, achieving such a level of shock is not easy, that is why we have to go further. And that is what Lady Gaga intends, to play a character. Assessing it in a few years we will see if Lady Gaga brings something to fashion or if she went unnoticed for a time.
It must be recognized that her originality is not won by anyone. She has turned her hair into one more accessory, and the same turns it into a bow, which stretches it until she gets a hat.
She also loves headdresses, colored extensions, and wigs, as well as all kinds of masks, and sunglasses.
Her style could be defined as futuristic or galactic.
She is a fan of maxi-shoulder pads and has adapted to her style some of the 80's trends that are so popular lately.
She even in front of the Queen of England herself she does not relax her style and she is able to wear a red vinyl dress.
What do you think of her style?
