Reese Witherspoon’s most daring movie role
Reese Witherspoon went from girl-next-door roles to being an Academy Award winner with serious acting chops – but she's also been happy getting saucy on the camera throughout her career
eese Witherspoon made in her name in Hollywood girl-next-door roles.
Many fans will remember her playing the famously ditzy socialite Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde movies, of which a third instalment will be released in May next year.
But now Reese is one of the highest-paid actresses in the world having risen phoenix-like up the A-list ladder.
The 45-year-old is a two-time Golden Globe award winner and a Primetime Emmy Award winner.
But you’d be forgiven if you didn’t readily associate the 45-year-old Academy Award-winning actress with s** scenes.
However during her lengthy career, Reese has got down and dirty in a number of movies and has stripped completely down to her birthday suit.
But in 2014 she confessed she was going completely ba** in another way, as she appeared on camera without makeup for the first time.
As she turns 45 today (March 22), Daily Star takes a look back at some of her most provocative roles.
Wild (2014)
Reese produced and starred in Nick Hornby’s successful screenplay, based on the book Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by author Cheryl Strayed.
Reese revealed some of the scenes were so risqué, that her then 15-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe found them a tad uncomfortable to watch.
She also had to use a hypnotist to calm her nerves before shooting her s** scenes.
"There's a lot of explicit s** scenes in this movie and she's like, 'Oh no!'" revealed Reese, speaking to the Globe and Mail on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival
“But I think it’s a really brave film in that [honest] sense, it tells women not to be embarrassed or ashamed about their bodies – or any experience they’ve had."
Reese might have left her daughter red-faced, but she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy award for her portrayal of exploring Cheryl, who dabbled with drugs before setting off on an enlightening hike through the Pacific Trail.
One heated scene saw the Hollywood star having passionate sxe in a hotel room, before romping up against a wall with two men in an alleyway.
She recalled in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK: "There were small descriptions in the script, but when he [director Jean-Marc Vallée] started describing what we were going to do, that’s when I started to panic. I was like, 'Wait. What are you talking about?'
"That’s [the s*x scenes], like, 3% of the movie, but it took up a tremendous amount of fear in my mind because it’s daunting.
"I never looked ahead at the schedule. I would wake up in the morning and say, 'What are we doing today?' And, I’d prepare on the way to work. Sometimes I was just terrified. Like a cat on a raft...'You can’t make me do it.'"
And while Reese had gone nu** on camera before, she had never gone bar* in the makeup department, which she admitted "wasn't easy".
