Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that producers pressured her to do a clear scene before her stardom
Before she landed her role on the series that would lead to her being one of her most recognizable celebrities, Sarah Jessica Parker was an aspiring actress struggling to establish her boundaries on screen.
Throughout her career, the Carrie Bradshaw performer has refused to undress in front of the camera to perform clear scenes.
She's even established a no-clear contract clause for all six seasons of HBO's hit series S*x and the City, but it wasn't always easy.
Just now, Parker recounts how she had a tough time in an interview with People, in which she touched on widespread se*ual misconduct and the unhealthy pressures of working in movies as a woman.
During the conversation, she referred to a particularly uncomfortable scenario at the beginning of her career: “I don't know if I had confidence or if people advised me. There was so much pressure for me to take off my clothes.”
The actress remembers and credits her agent and a stranger with helping her defend herself against her. "My agent sent a car and a plane ticket [to the film set] and said, 'If someone makes you do something you're not comfortable with, don't do it.'"
But she also commented that once, this kind of pressure led her to tears.
“Given what is happening now and the stories told from that particular period, I know how lucky I am that there was someone, in this case a man, who stepped in,” she continued.
For the also designer, the fact of not wanting to do nu*es did not diminish her support for women who choose to do so. "For me, it's not a question of value, nor do I judge anyone," it's just not for her.
