Daughter of an antique dealer and a father working in the textile industry, Jennifer Connelly was born on December 12, 1970. An only child, she grew up in Brooklyn.
At the age of 10, a friend of his father advised him to go to castings for modeling agencies. The little girl is selected and, from then on, she turns in spots and then poses for advertisements in magazines. She will even be on the cover of the monthly magazine Seventeen several times. Jennifer will also turn in a clip of the group Duran Duran: Union of the Snake.
As a teenager, she took a new turn by passing a casting for a film. She landed the role of the ballerina in Sergio Leone's feature film: Once Upon a Time in America (1984). His interpretation is noticed by the directors and Dario Argento entrusts him with the main role in Phenomena, the following year. In the years that followed, she appeared in several films (Labyrinthe, Some Girls). But in 1988, she decided to resume her studies and joined Yale then Stanford where she studied theater.
Caught up by the cinema, she stopped college and continued filming: Hot Spot, The Rocketeer, Dark City. But it was in the early 2000s that the young actress was noticed by critics thanks to her role in Requiem for a Dream (2000) and in An Exceptional Man (2001). Her performance in this last feature film is hailed and earned her numerous awards, including the Oscar, the BAFTA Awards and the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress.
Surfing on this new notoriety, Jennifer Connelly continues filming in blockbusters (Hulk, Blood Diamond, The Day the Earth Stood Still) as well as independent films (House of Sand and Fog, Reservation Road, Little Children). In the years that followed, the actress encountered difficulties in her career by appearing on several flops: Cœur d'encre, Creation, Le Dilemme, Virignia. In 2014, she returned to success with Noé, but her following films were not as well received. However, she continues filming and in 2020, she is showing, alongside Tom Cruise, Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to the cult film, Top Gun and the Snowpiercer series.
On the heart side, she lives a relationship with the photographer, David Dugan, together they have a son, Kai, born July 10, 1997. A few years later, she fell in love with the actor Paul Bettany, met on the set of an exceptional man. The couple married on January 1, 2003 and gave birth to two children, Stellan, born August 5, 2003 and Agnes, born May 31, 2011.
