Which actors made themselves vulnerable on screen?
Sebastian Stan wasn’t joking when he stated he and Denise Gough “gave it our ‘all'” for “Monday.”
In the new film, the co-stars both b-a-r-e it all, and they’re talking about what it was like to film all of those int-im-ate scenes.
Stan told The Wrap that removing his clothes made sense because the film was attempting to present an honest tale about a relationship.
“If it was truthful and made sense, then OK. Obviously trust was a big thing here,” he stated of going n*de. “I knew we were trying to tell such an honest depiction of a relationship that we were going to be open to whatever that meant, as long as it remained truthful and made sense.”
Denise admits that she initially thought she couldn’t do it due to the s*x scenes and the fact that these sequences often rely on the actress to do the heavy lifting. “Sebastian carried his side, so I didn’t ever feel like I’m being filmed now, having s*x,” she told Refinery29. “The camera just kind of moved around and we pretended. And then we jumped in the sea.”
“I think, as long as everything felt earned… and it did,” Sebastian continued. “With every scene, not just s*x scenes or the nudity, it’s like, ‘What’s the most truthful thing here? They would be n-k-d because they just did this. And that.’ It always felt safe that way.”
Monday has multiple personal sequences between Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough, including one in which the two ride a moped across the Greek countryside n-k-d. With a moment like that, both performers made themselves vulnerable, and Denise Gough praises Sebastian Stan’s willingness to do the same for making it easier for her to do it all as well.
