Will Smith-Chris Rock have made amends after 2022 Oscars slap, Diddy confirms: 'They're brothers'
After a full day of making news for their infamous slapstick episode onstage at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith and Chris Rock have made amends. This was confirmed by rapper Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. According to him, the problem between the two stars was "over".
Diddy told PageSix: “That's not a problem. That ended. I can confirm that." And he added: “Everything is love. They are brothers.
At the 94th Academy Awards on Monday, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after the comedian made some nasty comments about Jada Pinkett Smith. Will punched Chris after the latter commented on his actor-wife Jada's short hair. Jada suffers from an autoimmune disorder, alopecia, which causes hair loss and bald patches. The humor was not well received by many, including Will, who stormed onto the stage from the audience and punched him. This was shortly before he won his first Oscar for playing Richard Williams in King Richard.
"Keep my wife's name out of her fucking mouth," Will shouted, forcing the producers to black out several seconds of audio from the US televised broadcast.
Although Will Smith later apologized to the Academy while accepting the Best Actor trophy, he had by then left fans around the world divided. Will on Tuesday also posted an apology note on Instagram to Chris Rock and the Academy.
A video from the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in Hollywood has gone viral, showing Will dancing with his trophy to his own song, "Getting Jiggy With It." Jada was seen next to him. Chris, on the other hand, headed to The Party's 14th annual event after Gucci's 2022 Oscars.
