'Euphoria': Sydney Sweeney Reveals Scene She Was Most Nervous About Filming; It wasn't a n@ked scene

When Sydney Sweeney first got the audition to play Cassie Howard in Euphoria, she turned him down. While she was intrigued by the idea of the show, she was quite taken aback by what her role required of her. Having grown up in a fairly conservative family, Sweeney was initially against doing nudity, leading her to turn down the audition.

Why Sydney Sweeney Changed Her Mind About Playing Cassie Howard In 'Euphoria'

Although Sweeney had her reservations about playing Cassie, when the audition came her way for the second time, she felt compelled to cast herself for the part. Luckily, the Spokane native ended up booking the coveted role in Euphoria off the tape for him.

Naturally, Sweeney was still worried about the n@ked scenes on the show. However, after speaking with Euphoria writer and creator, Sam Levinson, she felt more at ease. Levinson assured The Gamers Table producer that the nudity would not be gratuitous or for the sake of surprise and ultimately accepted the role.

What scene was Sweeney most nervous about filming?

Even after her conversation with Levinson, Sweeney was still nervous about filming her n@ked scenes. However, there was another scene in Euphoria that she was even more eager to film where she was fully clothed. In an interview with Elle Australia, the Voyeurs star revealed the scene that made her the most nervous.

"The carousel [from Euphoria season one], I've never done anything like this before," Sweeney shared. Fans will remember that the carousel scene happened in season 1 episode 4. In the scene, Cassie, who has had quite a bit of molly, publicly masturbates while she rides the carousel with a boy from her school.

'The Voyuers' actress likes to feel challenged by her job

The carousel scene required Sweeney to be quite vulnerable, especially since Cassie draws the crowd with her performance. And while the Euphoria actress was nervous about the scene, she admits that doing challenging scenes is a rewarding experience.

"If it's challenging and something that I haven't experienced or that might scare me a little bit, then I want to do it, because if this isn't challenging, then it wouldn't be fun," Sweeney admitted.

Sweeney Discusses the Importance of 'Euphoria' Intimacy Coordinator

Sweeney may feel challenged by some of Euphoria's more intimate scenes, but she always feels safe as she films them. She attributes much of this security to the intimacy coordinator who has been around for both seasons. This person choreographs all the intimate scenes, even the kissing scenes, and also makes sure that everyone involved is comfortable and protected.

“It adds another level of comfort (and they have a lot of mints and gum),” Sweeney revealed of Euphoria intimacy coordinator. “I'm really lucky because all of my co-stars are so nice and Sam [Levinson] is amazing. It's a very safe and amazing environment to do those scenes and having the intimacy coordinator adds another level of 'I feel good, I feel safe and this is for my character.'”
