The most disturbing scenes in Irréversible
For me, the most disturbing movie scene is the brutally long r*p*e scene from Irréversible. It is a horrifically hard-to-watch scene, and many audience members actually walked out from the theater while watching the movie. It is single-handedly one of the most disturbing scenes I have ever seen in any movie. The aftereffects of this brutal scene linger for weeks later on one’s psyche.
I suppose the scene is made even more disturbing considering that the brutality is perpetrated on a character, who is portrayed by the lovely Monica Bellucci. This movie is one of the most depressing movies one can see. If this movie, and in particular, this scene, doesn’t make a person sad or disturbed, then I don’t know what else could.
The movie itself is a very good movie, but this scene is very hard to sit through. To date, it is the most disturbing scenes from any movie I’ve seen. I suppose, we should be glad the movie is shown in reverse-chronological fashion, because that way, at least, we have a peaceful image of Alex (Monica Bellucci’s character’s name) in our minds, in the very end.
