Donald Trump: who is Marla Maples, his forgotten second wife?
Before marrying Melania Trump, Donald Trump passed the ring on his finger to Marla Maples. She is the mother of one of his children.
Donald Trump has known three women in his life. Before marrying his current partner, Melania Trump in 2005, the President of the United States experienced the joys of marriage with two other women. Ivana Trump, with whom he was married from 1977 to 1993 then Marla Maples, with whom he was united from 1993 to 1999. From this second union was born Tiffany Trump, who is the second daughter of the head of state.
Marla Maples, American actress and TV host, is best known for being the wife of Donald Trump as their relationship was highly publicized. And for good reason, the businessman that was Donald Trump at the time got back together shortly after divorcing his first wife. Everything went very quickly between the lovers since their daughter, Tiffany, was born before their marriage. They would have met in 1985 and their idyll – first hidden – would have started in 1989 (Donald Trump was then in the household with Ivana Trump).
If their divorce was pronounced in 1999, the spouses separated in 1997. It was Donald Trump who put an end to this relationship … by post. Indeed, it was by letter that he informed Marla Maples that he no longer wished to share his life, as reported by a source to Vanity Fair in June 2019. As provided for in their contract, drawn up before their union, Donald Trump has pledged to pay their daughter $100,000 annually until she turns 21. But also $1 million to Maria Maples. She did not take the news well – or the way it was done – and later spoke about her intimate life with the 45th President of the United States and had made the front pages of several newspapers. She wanted to confide in their romance in a book, but Donald Trump canceled this project.
Marla Maples raised their daughter, Tiffany, alone
Donald Trump was not very cheerful when he learned that Marla Maples was pregnant. "Honestly, I'm glad it happened," he told Howard Stern in 2004. He then added, "I have a great little girl, Tiffany. But, you know at the time, I I was like, 'What happened? What are we going to do?'". Then, faced with the optimism of his companion, Donald Trump ended up thinking that it was good news. Tiffany Trump grew up away from the spotlight, raised by her mother. "She wanted me to have a chance to have a normal childhood. As normal as possible. I think she did well," the young woman told People. Marla Maples is also rather discreet: in 2017, she participated in Dancing with the stars.
