Kim Kardashian Was Originally Denied From Wearing Marilyn Monroe's Dress
Oddly enough, Kim Kardashian was first told that she couldn't wear Marilyn Monroe's iconic Met Gala dress... but the museum that houses the piece changed its mind after she Kim went to work.
A spokesperson for Ripley's tells TMZ... Kim's team reached out a few months ago after doing some research on the dress.
They met in March for a fitting, but it didn't go well: Both Kim and Ripley's reps were unhappy with the way it fit, and the museum denied its use. Remember, the dress is 60 years old, so the fabric and seams had to be handled with care.
Determined to make it work, we're told Kim went back to Ripleys a month later after losing some weight (reported 16lbs) and it fit better.
As for the Met Gala carpet, Kim wore the actual dress for walks and photos, but then transformed into a replica for the actual event inside, giving the OG back to Ripley's.
You'd think Ripley's would have asked for a rental fee... but instead we're told Kim is making 2 donations to organizations in the Orlando area on behalf of the museum.
The dress will be on display again beginning Memorial Day, this time at Ripley's in Hollywood, CA…along with other accessories she paired with it at the Gala.
