Game of Thrones Emilia Clarke speaks out on controversial Daenerys scene she'd change
Game of Thrones shot Emilia Clarke into the spotlight with her breakout role as Daenerys Targaryen. But, the actress has now revealed there's one particular scene she'd like to change.
Emilia Clarke starred as Daenerys Targaryen throughout the eight season run of the fantasy epic. Daenerys was a fan favourite in the HBO series and was dubbed the Mother of Dragons. Now over two years since the final episode, Emilia has looked back on the iconic role and has revealed what she’d change about the show.
Emilia was a huge part of the Game of Thrones finale in 2019 as her character, Daenerys, died at the final hurdle in a shock twist.
As the final season drew to a close, Daenerys was killed by her lover Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington).
In response to her death Daenerys’ one surviving dragon, Drogon, torched the famous Iron Throne and flew away from King’s Landing with her body.
The ending to the show split fans and proved to be controversial, as many were hoping to see a happy ending for Daenerys.
Despite Game of Thrones coming to a conclusion over two years ago, Emilia is still regularly quizzed about the series.
In a recent interview, the actress revealed the one thing she would like to change about the show and many fans may agree with her.
“Hmm, right, the bit where I died!” she told theSkimm, before bursting out laughing.
Emilia was clearly joking in her answer, but it’s likely to have struck a chord with the numerous viewers who were left disappointed with her ending on the show.
During the final season, many viewers complained about the plot lines, with some suggesting Daenerys’ personality had changed drastically.
She swiftly went from being the much-loved Mother of Dragons to setting fire to an entire village of innocent people and her enemies who had surrendered.
Emilia also teased many other details about Game of Thrones during her interview and even suggested she knew the truth behind a famous continuity error on the show.
An episode during season 8 saw a big blunder for the fantasy series as a modern-day coffee cup was spotted by viewers in the background of a shot.
Emilia couldn’t help but bring up the well-known error once more as she denied it was her fault.
