Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt Reveal What They Can’t Stand About Each Other

Plus, the real reason Passengers is better than Rogue One. (It has to do with Pratt’s butt.)

his holiday season, two epic blockbusters are vying to take moviegoers to a galaxy far, far away. In the upcoming sci-fi thriller Passengers, viewers can watch Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt fall in love aboard a doomed spacecraft bound for a distant planet. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, audience members can watch a group of rebel spies hijack an Imperial spaceship as they set out to steal the plans to the Death Star. Which one deserves your attention more? According to Oscar-winning actress Lawrence, Passengers may have a leg up—or in this case, bottoms up—on the stand-alone Star Wars flick.

“People will get to see Chris Pratt’s ass. Not once, but a couple of times. That makes [Passengers] better, right?” Lawrence told Vanity Fair at the movie’s glitzy Los Angeles premiere Wednesday.

“Besides that, our film is completely original material, which is something that I was really excited to support. It’s very rare that studios will back a completely original concept that’s not a remake, or based on a book or a franchise,” she continued. “I don’t want to say any more, because I know a lot of people that worked on Rogue One. My movie is obviously better, but I’m friends with some people on that movie, so good luck to them!”

Trying not to disturb the Force among passionate Star Wars fans is a wise decision. But that won’t stop Lawrence from promoting her movie. She and Pratt have been jet-setting across the globe (Paris, Madrid, Moscow, Berlin, London, New York, and now L.A.) for the past two weeks to speak about their epic picture, due in theaters on December 21. The pair has passed the time by exchanging good-natured insults; Pratt has also been pranking Lawrence by cropping her out of the photos he posts on social media. The faux feud continues as the pair heads to Asia. Due to their nonstop press tour, the co-stars have quickly discovered each other’s quirky personality traits—endearing and irritating alike.

“Chris’s positivity is endearing, and at the same time so annoying,” Lawrence told V.F.. “He always has a positive attitude. He always sees the best in things, and he’s so annoyingly perfect in that way.”

The Jurassic World actor, meanwhile, finds it infuriating that Lawrence has the uncanny ability to both crack jokes and inspire awe as a dramatic actress.

“She’s such a goofball, and what’s annoying is that she’s so much better at switching it on and off than me. She can go from goofing off to serious-acting mode in a second,” Pratt told Vanity Fair. “I usually have to concentrate real hard to turn it off and on, and she can turn it on and off with no problem. It was like that while we were filming and during the press tour. She’s really great, though. We became fast friends, and I can never get tired of Jen. She’s always fun to hang out with. We laugh a lot, and I had the best time making the movie with her.”

That said, if Pratt were stuck in space like his Passengers character, his choice of companion would be easy: Pratt picks his wife, Anna Faris, the star of the CBS comedy Mom. The two have been married for seven years.

“She’s my best friend and my soul mate,” Pratt said while holding Faris’s hand on the black arrivals carpet. “She’s so patient and understanding. She backs me up no matter what. I don’t know what I’d do without her. I love her so much.”

Faris echoed his sentiment, adding: “Isn’t he the sweetest husband? I’m so proud of him. He’s the person I choose to be stuck with in space and on Earth.”
