Former adult actress Mia Khalifa said that people are of the opinion that she earned millions from p-rn. But such rumours are "completely untrue", she added.
Former adult actress Mia Khalifa dismissed rumours of "raking in millions from p-rn" and said that such reports are nothing but "completely untrue". She is indeed pretty much popular but contrary to gossip that she has been earning millions, Mia clarified that she earned around $12,000 (Rs 8.5 lakh) in the industry.
Mia appeared for an interview with Megan Abbott recently and shared a link of it on Twitter, and wrote: "People think I'm raking in millions from p-rn. Completely untrue. I made a TOTAL of around $12,000 in the industry and never saw a penny again after that. Difficulty finding a normal job after quitting p-rn was... scary."
Mia was part of the adult film industry for three months in between 2014 to 2015 and had also emerged as a top-rated star on streaming giant P-rnhub.
Moreover, Mia also busted "common misconceptions" in two other tweets as she posted:
Meanwhile, Mia spoke to Megan Abbott about her life at length and also discussed about the time when she got death threats from ISIS for wearing a hijab in an adult film. "When I did the hijab scene... that is when the ISIS death threats came in. All the news broke out-globally, not just in America. ... I was banned from a handful of countries," Mia said on the show.
During the interview, Mia also said that her followers on Instagram increased to millions from hundreds after she quit working in the industry. "I think I went from 400 followers on Instagram to like 200,000 in the span of three days. And then it just kept snowballing until I was at like 2 million, like six months later. This was after I quit p-rn; it just kept growing and growing and growing. And then my Instagram was hacked by ISIS," Mia said.
Mia Khalifa worked as a paralegal and bookkeeper after quitting the adult film industry.
