Yes, all Marvel fans are excited for the arrival of the first trailer for the new Odinson movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, where Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder, but now without Mjölnir, which was claimed by someone else, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). How did this happen?
The new film will arrive on July 8, 2022, and although Marvel is always very secretive about the content of its films and not much is known about the plot of this new installment of Loki's brother. We tell you a little about how Jane Foster ends up becoming Thor, at least in the comics.
The character of Jane Foster was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby in the year 1962, she made her first appearance in the Journey into Mystery #84 comics, where she was introduced as a nurse, she would end up being the love interest of Thor.
In Thor: God of Thunder #12, Jane Foster reveals to Odinson that she had breast cancer. And despite Thor trying to fight him with his Asgardian powers, she refused. After her, Odinson asks Jane to represent Midgar in the Congress of Worlds and sends her to a new level of galactic scale.
Things change after the events of 2014's Original Sin, Thor loses his powers after Nick Fury whispers something in his ear that makes him unworthy of Mjölnir. Unleashing an impact on Asgard and Odinson, as he couldn't lift the hammer that belonged to him anymore.
The hammer is thrown to the Moon and remained forgotten, until he begins to telepathically call Jane Foster, who gives in to his call, once there, Jane picks up the hammer becoming the new Thor.
Her story unfolds as the new superheroine, until issue 705 where she fights for the last time with Thor's powers, until his death. Well, every time she transformed into Thor, she affected her health.
Although fortunately, she is revived by Odin in the company of Thor, who recovers her powers, and Jane Foster manages to defeat cancer.
The official synopsis says that Thor is on a journey unlike anything he has ever faced: a search for inner peace. But his retreat is interrupted by a galactic assassin known as Gorr, the Butcher of Gods (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his ex Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor's surprise, now wields the magic hammer. Together they embark on a cosmic adventure to unravel the mystery of the Butcher's revenge and stop him before it's too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi, it opens in theaters on July 8, 2022.
