6 Embarrassing Incidents at the Oscars

In its 84 years of implementation, the Academy Awards or more popularly known as the Oscars always brings surprises. Surprise in this case can also be interpreted as an "embarrassing incident" which makes the event's elegance doubtful.

The 85th Oscar awarding night is just a few days away. Precisely on February 24, the Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, Los Angeles. It is not impossible if the audience at the event, including the Host, Seth MacFarlane, will find surprises, including unpleasant ones in it.

Whatever surprises arise in the event, hopefully it won't be as embarrassing as the following six incidents:

1. The N-de Male Incident

An intruder with long hair and mustache sneaks in and runs across the stage while making a "peace" sign with his hand at the 1974 Oscars.

Fortunately presenter at the time, David Niven, saved the event by joking, "Maybe the only way for that person to laugh is to be n-ked like that," he said.

Whatever the reason, the incident has been immortalized by journalists and spread around the world.

2. Marlon Brando Boycotted the Oscars

Actor Marlon Brando boycotted the Oscars even though he himself came out as a recipient of the trophy in 1972. He chose not to attend the event and delegated it to an Indian woman named Little feather. The woman came wearing traditional Apache Indian clothing.

Marlon Brando's refusal was based on his disappointment with Hollywood films that discredited Indian figures in cinema. Whether true or not, news circulated that Littlefeather was not a native of the Indian tribe.

3. Hosts That Failed To Come Away

It is an unwritten law that every Oscar host is obliged to present the event with a fresh and intelligent joke. Of the many Oscar hosts, the worst in failing to be funny is David Letterman. The talk show host is trying to combine the concept of his show with an Oscar-class event. As a result, he failed miserably.

His worst joke was that he asked Tom Hanks to help him roll out the red carpet to do a little trick for his pet dog. He seems to have forgotten that the whole building walked on the red carpet before. No wonder they were offended by it.

4. Special Guest Oscar

When again Blame Canada from the film SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER, AND UNCUT was nominated for Best Song, the singers of the song, Matt Stone and Trey Parker appeared with surprising makeup. They wore high heels and the famous dresses that Oscar guests had worn in previous years.

No one can stand to see Parker walking on the red carpet in a green J-Lo dress while showing off her hairy chest.

5. Rat Pack Harassment

The Rat Pack group is already legendary in Hollywood there. The group consisted of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. Because two of them could not attend that night, namely Frank and Dean, the 1987 Oscar committee agreed to replace them with Dom DeLuise, Pat Morita, and Telly Savalas. This impromptu Rat Pack is believed to be singing the song Fugue for Tinhorns. The results were not so good and made Rat Pack fans feel offended.

6. Snow White And The S-x Performer

At the 1989 Oscars, Rob Lowe opened the ceremony by singing with the actress in a Snow White costume. The appearance received criticism because it was deemed not suitable to be displayed at the Oscars. But the most criticized is the image of Rob Lowe who was caught in a s-x video case with a 16-year-old girl.

The audience certainly felt disgusted by his appearance with the Disney princess figure. Direct reprimands came from several actors/actresses such as Julie Andrews, Paul Newman who stated that the appearance was harassment from the figure of Snow White who was liked by children.

7. Latest Incident!

Victory speeches are usually decorated with thanks and gratitude for the Oscars won. But not for the case of Melissa Leo who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in THE FIGHTER. He accidentally threw the word "F**k" right on the Oscar stage which was broadcast live and watched by millions of people.
