Cameron Diaz does not regret leaving acting: "It brought peace to my soul"

The actress left Hollywood in 2014 and was honest in an interview about what her current life is like away from the cameras.

Cameron, now 49, is sure that getting away from the industry was what really brought her the most happiness in her life. She began her career as a model at the age of 15, but it was not until she was in her 20s that she achieved worldwide fame after co-starring in the famous movie, "The Mask," alongside Jim Carrey.

The celebrity has participated in countless successful films, and she has had four Golden Globe nominations for her work.

After starring in "The Other Woman" in 2014, the former American film actress and model decided to step aside from the screens, and dedicate herself to her family. Since then, she has had greater “peace” and tranquility. The interpreter of "Locos Por Mary", in an interview on In Goop Health: The Sessions, digital program of the also actress Gwyneth Paltrow, recounted the turn for the better that she took her life since her retirement.

“When you make a movie, it's the perfect excuse. They (the filmmakers) own you. You are there 12 hours a day for months. You don't have time for anything else. And I realized that I gave parts of my life to all these people, and they took them. I basically had to get her back and take responsibility for my life.”

After retiring from the cinema she stated:

“A peace. I have peace in my soul. Because I'm finally taking care of myself. I feel grounded."

At first, the actress stated that she moved away from the screens to dedicate herself to her and enjoy her family, mainly Raddix, the first and only daughter with Benji Madden, singer of the band Good Charlotte, who was conceived through a surrogate womb.

Diaz has decided to retire from the cameras at 36 years old, away from public life, and it would seem that she has no intention of returning to the film industry.
