The artist says that she felt "violated" and denounced this leak as a "s-xual crime".
Jennifer Lawrence has spoken publicly for the first time about the intim-te photos that were hacked and spread online, and she didn't seem ready to let it go. Furiously, she denounced this leak as a "s-xual crime". .
Speaking exclusively to Vanity Fair magazine, this rising silver-screen siren said she had felt violated and now fears the theft of the racy photos will affect her career.
"Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, it doesn't mean I've looked for this," she said in the magazine's November issue, which will be available online on Wednesday.
"It's my body and (spreading intim-te photos) should be my choice. And the fact that it's not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't even believe we live in a world like this," she said.
Last month, hackers posted n-de photos of more than a dozen Hollywood celebrities on social media. The images had been stolen from the artists' private accounts in Apple's iCloud cloud, in what the tech giant called a "targeted attack."
"It's not a scandal. It's a s-x crime," the 24-year-old actress told Vanity Fair.
"It's a violation. It's disgusting. The law needs to change and we need to change. That's why these websites (where they were posted) are responsible."
"Someone is s-xually exploited and raped and the first idea that comes to some is to profit financially from that. It's beyond my understanding," the "Hunger Games" star continued.
"I can't imagine someone so thoughtless, careless and so empty inside."
Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar winner for "Silver Linings Playbook," had sent the photos to her then-boyfriend at a time when they were in a long-distance relationship.
She initially wanted to write a statement to respond to the leak, she recounted, but she explained: "Everything I tried to write made me cry or make me furious."
