Actress Hilarie Burton recalls on Twitter an occasion in which the actor touched her without permission during a recording
Since the Harvey Weinstein scandal began, the name of ** Ben Affleck ** has appeared in many news about it.
The actor won his first Oscar in 1998 with his friend Matt Damon for the screenplay for Good Will Hunting, a film that was produced by Miramax, the company then chaired by Weinstein. The producer was already known in those years for his incredible ability to sneak his feature films into the Hollywood Academy Awards. That is why, with the numerous accusations against Weinstein for sexual harassment that The New York Times or The New Yorker have published in recent days, many would like to hear Affleck's reaction to the news from one of his closest collaborators.
"This is completely unacceptable," Affleck wrote of the Weinstein reports in a statement posted on Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday. "We need to be better at protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters."
But his statements soon turned against Affleck. First, with actress Rose McGowan accusing him of knowing perfectly well about Weinstein's behavior since the late 90s. And second, with a viral video of an interview that the actor gave in 2003 for an MTV program and in which he sexually assaults interviewer Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill) touching her tit without permission.
The video began to be shared as a result of a Twitter user reproaching Affleck for mentioning his daughters in the statement about Weinstein: "Clearly he was not thinking too much about his daughters when he left them to go out with his nanny." User Shanice Brim responded to that tweet with another accusation: "He also touched Hilarie Burton's tit on TRL [the MTV show hosted by Burton] once. Everyone forgot." The response to that tweet is the one that no one expected to read on Tuesday afternoon. It was from Burton herself: ** "I never forgot."**
"I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's maddening that people never remember all the disgusting, predatory things he's done," Brim wrote back. "Seriously, thank you. I was a girl," said Burton, who later tweeted a thank you to all the women who have come to the fore in recent days to denounce Weinstein's actions. "I had to laugh then to keep from crying," Burton later added, referring to the lighthearted tone of the 2003 video in which she had to talk about what Affleck did as if it were something completely normal. Obviously, the one on MTV is a scene that in 2017 would have generated a very different media impact than back then, when nobody gave it much importance. Luckily, we are no longer in 2003.

Engulfed again in another viral controversy, Affleck was forced to write an apology on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon: "I acted inappropriately with Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize for it."
