Dakota Johnson is speaking without filters for the first time about everything that happened in the 'Fifty Shades' saga, and among the confessions about the worst parts of that situation, she has clarified what her relationship with her co-star Jamie Dornan was like.
The 'Fifty Shades' saga has been one of the most popular of the previous decade and put its protagonists Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan on the map, although it is no secret how much the actors have had to fight to move their careers away from the erotic movies.
But what they have never gotten to talk about is the goings-on on the set and what the bad relationships really were...until now. Dakota Johnson in a report with Vanity Fair has spoken more honestly than ever about how it was a very complicated situation. You can see everything she said about her struggles with author E.L. James in the video above.
"I was very young, I was 23 years old. And it was scary. There were a lot of discussions. I have never been able to talk about this honestly, because you want to promote a film in the right way, and I am proud of what we ended up doing, but it was complicated. Yes I would have known... If I had known how it was going to be, I don't think anyone would have done it," he also acknowledged.
However, when it comes to the 'feud' that was so much rumored, her alleged bad relationship with Jamie Dornan, the actress makes it very clear; it was just the opposite.
"There was never a moment where we didn't get along. I know it's weird, but he's like a brother to me," she clarifies.
"I love him so so so so much. And we really were there for each other. We had to trust each other completely and protect each other," she recalls.
"We were doing the weirdest things for years, and we had to be a team. 'We're not going to do that' or 'You can't shoot that angle,'" she says, smiling as she remembers those moments.
"Sam [Taylor-Johnson] didn't go back to directing after the first movie, and as a woman she had brought a softer perspective. Then James Foley came along, and he's an interesting man. It was different doing those bizarre things with a man behind the scenes. camera. Just a different energy. There are things I can't say yet because I don't want to damage anyone's career or tarnish anyone's reputation, but both me and Jamie were treated very well," he reflects, trying to take iron out of his words.
Finally, she tries to take stock of the mixed feelings she clearly has with this part of her career.
"Look, it was great for our careers. It was amazing. Lucky. But it was weird. Very, very weird," she acknowledges.
