Failed cosmetic surgeries: Hollywood stars who regretted their injections, cuts and fillers

They wanted to improve their image but ended up regretting the result

Fillers, botox injections, cosmetic surgeries, implants... under the stressful world of Hollywood there are countless actors and actresses who decide to undergo interventions that do not always turn out in the best way.

Although in the case of some celebrities a small touch-up on their nose and some adjustments to their figures will rejuvenate the image on the screen, there are cases where the operations left them more sad than happy.

Some stars have spoken openly about how the pressure to always look good and young led them to make decisions they ended up regretting.

Tara Reid

It took six years for Tara Reid to wear a bikini in public again. The blonde from American Pie had chosen to hide her body from the gaze of the paparazzi due to a bad cosmetic surgery (liposuction) that left scars on her abdomen.

"My stomach became the most rippled and bulging thing," Tara told US Weekly in 2010. “She had a hernia, a big bulge next to her belly button. As a result, she could not wear a bikini. I lost a lot of work."

Reid underwent some operations to correct the previous surgery and in January 2010 she got naked in Playboy.

“I am a confident young woman… At the end of the day, I go to sleep knowing who I am… I am happy with my life now, and I would like to keep it that way… The scars on my stomach are the wounds of my battle,” he told the magazine.

The blonde also monopolized the spotlight as she passed through a red carpet where, by accident, her neckline slipped and her chest was exposed, revealing a huge scar on her breast, although of that surgery she did not speak.

Against breast implants

Perhaps it is one of the most requested cosmetic surgeries, but there are also more and more women who have regretted it.

One of them was Tori Spelling. When she was in her twenties and famous on Beverly Hills 90210, the actress found it necessary to increase the size of her breasts, a decision she would later come to regret.

“I had my breasts done in my early 20s and if I had known that it could have impacted my milk supply I never would have done it.” (Tori has also altered her face over the years, but she hasn't spoken openly about those surgeries.)

Like her, Carmen Electra revealed that she was not so satisfied with that operation. “I had breast surgery over 10 years ago, taking me from a 32B to a DD, and it took me a little while to get used to it,” she said. “I didn't want to go as big as that. It's nice that I don't have to wear a push-up bra anymore, but I could have left it alone. I think she was fine the way she was.”

“It was difficult to be active with them, because my chest always hurt. I was in a lot of pain and I didn't like being in pain all the time, so they had to go!” Glee star Heather Morris stated of her implants.

Melissa Gilbert spoke in the same vein. “One, I don't care about my health and two, I don't like how they look or feel. Frankly, I wish I could take a Zumba class without fear of ending up with two black eyes,” she explained in a blog post of hers.

Victoria Beckham also succumbed to the seduction of implants, but she ended up advising her followers. “I should probably say, don't mess with your breasts. All those years I denied it. A sign of insecurity. Celebrate what you have."

And Adrienne Bailon didn't feel good about her surgery, either. "Probably one of my biggest regrets," Bailon told E! in 2014 about her breast implants. “I went from being insecure about not having big breasts to now looking like a porn star. And I was like, 'Uh, this is not cool.

Heidi Montag

The Hills member caused quite a stir a decade ago when it was learned that she underwent 10 cosmetic procedures in a single day, when she was only 23 years old.

Chin reduction, brow lift, botox and breast augmentation were part of the procedures.

“No one ages perfectly, so I plan to continue to use surgery to keep myself as perfect as I can be,” Heidi told People at the time.

But a decade later, her vision has changed.

“I was too young to make a life-changing decision like that,” she told Cosmopolitan last year. "She was under so much pressure because it was the beginning of the comment sections, the negativity and the hate on the internet."

“I think I looked in the mirror too much. I wish I had waited and not made a decision so young because I have long term health complications,” she added to the post.

Men too

Although there are fewer cases of actors who have changed their appearance in an extreme way, there are some who have spoken about it openly.

Mickey Rourke, the heartthrob of the 80s with Nine and a Half Weeks, saw his face transform, although not because of a bad cosmetic surgery, but because of boxing. His twice broken nose and shattered cheekbone were some of the effects.

In 2009 he confessed that he had had to undergo interventions. "Most of it was to fix the mess on my face from boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together."

In the case of Kenny Rogers, it was for an aesthetic issue and he regretted it.

"I wish I hadn't," said Rogers, who died in March of this year. “Looking back at some photos of myself, my eyes were much warmer than they are now, and I miss it. As one advances in life, he makes decisions. Some are good, some are bad."

In the case of actor Reid Ewing, his condition of body dysformia led him to undergo several interventions.

"My appearance was the only thing that mattered to me," he wrote in 2015 in The Huffington Post. “I had just moved to Los Angeles to become an actor… I would sit alone in my apartment and take pictures of myself from every angle, analyzing every feature. One day I decided that I had to have cosmetic surgery. 'No one can be that ugly,' I thought. 'It is unacceptable'".

He thus began a series of procedures that only left him pain and insecurity.

“In early 2012, all the isolation, secrecy, depression and self-loathing became unbearable. I promised I would never have cosmetic surgery again even though I was still deeply insecure about my appearance. It took me about six months before I felt comfortable with people looking at me, ”he confessed.

Radical transformations

Melanie Griffith became addicted to surgeries until she realized the seriousness of the comments around her. “It hurt so much that I went to a different doctor and he started dissolving all this shit that he had put in by this other doctor. Hopefully, I look more normal now.”

Something similar happened to Courteney Cox with her fillers. "One day you see photos of yourself and think 'Oh God, I look horrible'. For a woman in this industry… getting older is not easy. But I learned the lesson. I've done things that I regret. Fortunately, there are things that dissolve and disappear. And that's good because this hasn't been my best look."

Against botox

Less drastic than surgeries, botox injections have also caused some celebrities to regret it.

"I tried botox, unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again," Nicole Kidman commented.

For Gwyneth Paltrow it was not a pleasant experience either. “I will try anything. Except botox, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!”
