Keira Knightley is no stranger to s-x scenes, but she’s officially left on-screen n-dity behind. In a new interview with the Financial Times, the Pirates of the Caribbean alum revealed that she will no longer do n-de scenes now that she has two daughters. “The nipples droop,” joked Knightley.
On Friday, the Financial Times published an in-depth interview with Knightley ahead of the release of her new film, Misbehaviour. The profile covers everything from the actress’ early days in Bend It Like Beckham to recent performances in Colette and The Aftermath, as well as her more recent role of mother. While Knightley admitted that being a mother is “difficult and wonderful,” she said that having her two daughters, Edie, 4, and Delilah, 6 months, hasn’t changed her professional life too much — except when it comes to n-dity.
Knightley revealed that while she stripped down for films like A Dangerous Method (2011) and The Edge of Love (2008), motherhood has changed her perspective. “The nipples droop,” she joked. “I always felt completely comfortable doing [n-dity] when I was younger. I never did anything that I didn’t feel comfortable doing.”
The actress added that she’s “really happy with [her] body” — “It’s done an amazing thing,” she said — but she’s no longer comfortable going topless on set. “I also don’t want to stand there in front of a whole film crew,” Knightley told the Financial Times.
Knightley went on to say that the internet has also made doing s-x scenes less desirable, as users can take them entirely out of context and post them online. “It used to be that you’d do a s-x scene in isolation with the film, and it would make sense. And maybe a crappy paper would put it somewhere but, ultimately, that would be it,” she said. “But now, you can take the whole thing and put it in a completely different thing, and it’s on some porn site.”
