It’s hard to find a more glamorous character duo than Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in the 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street.” The two play Jordan and Naomi Belfort; Jordan Belfort was a high-profile stockbroker who made millions by essentially scamming the everyday investor.
Throughout the movie, there is no shortage of s-x and drug use. But during filming, Margot Robbie was actually injured from one memorable s-x scene.
Leonardo DiCaprio knew Margot Robbie would be a star while filming
Robbie was mostly unheard of when she was cast for the role of Naomi Belfort in the 2013 film. The Australian actor had been fairly new to the industry, only having made appearances in a number of Australian shows. She didn’t have much experience acting in U.S. films, but Scorsese saw her potential and wanted her cast as DiCaprio’s wife.
DiCaprio and Robbie grew close during filming, but there was one specific scene where he knew she was going to make it big in Hollywood: The moment she splashed water on his face when she’d heard him saying another woman’s name in his sleep.
“… Seeing Margot come in and read that scene with me, I just knew I was witnessing a dynamic presence in cinema that was about to be,” DiCaprio once revealed in an interview with The Sunday Project.

Though the film certainly helped define Robbie’s place in Hollywood, it didn’t come without its share of new experiences — including filming multiple s-x scenes and various n-de moments. Robbie even once revealed that she took three shots of tequila before standing n-ked in the doorway of her apartment the first time Naomi brought Jordan home with her.
In another scene, though, Robbie actually sustained some injuries. In the movie, Jordan and Naomi were having s-x on a bed that was lined with money, which, at the time, seemed glamorous. But in real life, it was painful for Robbie, who received a backside full of paper cuts from the fresh bills’ sharp edges, according to Hollywood.com. Though she can likely laugh about it now, it certainly didn’t feel great at the time.
Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio went on to star in another film together
Robbie and DiCaprio had chemistry while filming, and they also developed a close friendship throughout the movie. The two went on to star in another film together: “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” which premiered in 2019.
The two starred alongside other celebs, such as Brad Pitt, in the film that originally premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France. It went on to gross nearly $375 million at the box office and has since become another one of Robbie’s biggest appearances.
