The 6 times Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to prison

The harsh reality is that the actress has been arrested on multiple occasions

Forget red carpets, parties and hotels. The Los Angeles Police Station was the most popular place to spot Hollywood stars in the early and mid-2000s, and a couple of names will surely come to mind, of which we'll be talking about Lindsay Lohan today.

In fact, there was a revolving door at the Lynwood Correctional Center when beauties like Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Lindsay Lohan went from court to jail and back to work. Although it was a close race between her and Hilton at one point in the decade, Lohan racked up the most points within rehab, the police and even jail.

Lohan began her career as a healthy young freckled Disney star. The actress and singer showcased her considerable talent in a variety of films including "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday," and "Herbie Fully Loaded." Lohan's acting skills earned her critical acclaim and public affection. But we know that child stars don't always have the easiest path to fame.

Like so many child stars before and after her, her success took a toll on her. When you add up Lohan's parents' divorce, her father's habit of talking too much about her daughter to the tabloids, and the pressure of living life in the global spotlight, it quickly became a recipe for disaster.

In just a few short years, Lindsay Lohan managed to rack up mug shots as often as magazine covers. The actress was arrested multiple times and even went to jail. Know the details!

The Lindsay Lohan Arrests Sadly, Lindsay Lohan became as famous for her run-ins with the law as she was for her roles in comedy movies. And, at the time of her it was difficult to keep up with all the legal problems that she had, but the number of official arrests was 7.

In May 2007, Lohan was arrested for driving under the influence in Beverly Hills and briefly hospitalized. She was arrested for the same thing again, plus felony cocaine possession and driving with a suspended license two months later.

In May 2010, a warrant was issued for Lohan's arrest after she failed to appear for a court hearing and a DUI progress hearing, but she posted bail. In 2011 she was arrested for stealing a necklace.

In 2012, she was again arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident, but charges were eventually dropped. Later that year, Lohan was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman at a club. The prosecutor ultimately decided not to proceed with the prosecution. And last but not least, in 2013 she was arrested for reckless driving and lying to the police.

In total, Lohan was sentenced to prison 6 times, for a total of 332 days. She finally served 42 days and 84 minutes in jail and 35 days of house arrest. In addition, she was ordered to submit to or voluntarily enter rehabilitation 5 times. Lohan also spent a total of 8 years on probation.

Lindsay Lohan after jail

Given the number of times Lindsay Lohan has been arrested, jailed, and sent to rehab in her young life, many believed she would never recover, but she has surprisingly pulled off an impressive turnaround in the last decade.

In a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Lohan hesitantly admitted that she was an "addict," sparking a closeness between the two women. A year later, Lohan and Winfrey made an eight-episode documentary series titled "Lindsay," about the actress's attempts to sober her up, which aired on Oprah's OWN channel.

She previously opened up about battling a disorder, which she later denied, and mental health issues in an interview with Vanity Fair. "She was sick," Lohan allegedly told the magazine. "I was sick. Everyone was scared. And I was scared too. People sat me down and she said, 'You're going to die if you don't take care of yourself.'"

And Lindsay suddenly disappeared to recover. Currently, LiLo lives in Dubai, saying that life outside of Hollywood has been the best for her well-being. "Living abroad is the safest place. It's less demanding. America always says, 'Come on, come on, come on, come on!'" Lohan told The New York Times in 2018. "I don't have to turn on the news and watch about the Kardashians. I don't have to watch anything anymore. I choose what I want to watch and how I want to live."
