The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra explains why she refused to use body double for n-ked and s-x scenes

The Witcher’s Yennefer is definitely a woman who knows her s-xuality, and is seen in numerous clinches with lovers during n-ked and s-x scenes in the Netflix fantasy series.

It was definitely a task for actress Anya Chalotra, who plays the leading lady in the show who leaves mischief in her wake as a powerful mage.

But speaking to  Anya explained that she decided to take on the task herself, despite being offered a body double to do them for her.

She told us: ‘I had a body double for the s-x scenes, and she was always there. Flora.

‘But I didn’t, I only used her for the first s-x scene because I realised very quickly in that first s-x scene that actually, I didn’t feel comfortable anyone else portraying Yennefer, because it’s still acting isn’t it?’

In the scene in question, pre-transformation Yennefer was seen in a passionate clinch with Istredd (Royce Pierreson), as an imaginary audience concocted by Yen was seen applauding as they watched.

After watching the scene unfold, Anya stepped in and later performed any other forms of n-dity herself.

‘I found [watching] that really hard, so if we were going to talk about the s-x scenes then it would be how we were best going to film them, so that I was comfortable and you’d get you’d still get what we needed for the story to move on,’ she explained.

‘But with the audience, yeah, but the wide shot isn’t me. The intim-cy between Yennefer and Istrid is. Those close up shots.’

Thankfully with the exception of that one scene, the team were able to avoid full n-dity – with Anya going ‘semi-n-de’ instead.

‘We thought we could portray those scenes without any n-dity,’ Anya told us. ‘Semi-n-de, but not like the first s-x scene where I had to use my body double.

‘The only things that I had to get n-de for were the scenes, the transformation scene and other scenes which actually really did develop the story and really need to, you know…’

The Witcher has become a smash-hit in just a few short days following its release, with avid fans of the game and book series the show is based on flocking to see if the series could live up to the hype.
