However, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, Lena Headey used a stuntwoman for her already famous 'penitence walk'. Headey was pregnant at the time of filming so she did not shoot all the shots herself.
The scene - filmed in Dubrovnik, a coastal city in Croatia - took three full days to shoot and despite the actress using a double for some sequences, Headey did have to walk through the mud and humiliate herself in front of the crowd during the which is Cersei's worst moment.
"It is not difficult to get into the role and imagine that feeling when people are yelling at you and insulting you, you look horrible and they are humiliating you tremendously [...] A part of you is really terrified. Nobody deserves that treatment, "he explained. the actress.
George R.R. Martin has explained that for this harsh scene in the final episode he was inspired by the penance imposed on Jane Shore, one of the mistresses of King Edward IV of England, sentenced to a 'walk of shame' very similar to Cersei's.
THE FUTURE OF THE QUEEN MOTHER
After the harsh scenes starring Cersei, Headey believes that her character is at a pivotal moment in the series. "This is the moment where either the queen dies or these 'lessons' take effect on her and help her," the actress explained.
Producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss assured at the beginning of the 5th season - which with its last episode has reached the plot of the literary saga - that this is all that we are going to know about Cersei for the moment, since George R.R Martin does not nothing has yet been written about the queen mother's future.
