Daniel Craig recalls why he had agreed to play James Bond back in 2006.
“The deal was, I told producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson before I read the script — it’s so arrogant, it’s ridiculous — I just said I can’t do something that’s come before,” Craig referenced Sean. Actors including Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Bronson.
The actor was reportedly cast as a British spy in his first Bond film casino Royale and then later he did four films no time to die which was released last year.
Speaking on the film’s six-part podcast independent Craig explained, “I can’t recreate what you’ve done before. Although it’s great, I can’t do it. I can’t come in and try and be something that people expect.”
The actor told his makers that he might come in and reshoot it as it would be “catchy and interesting”.
Craig expressed his gratitude to the producers who did not say goodbye to him, saying instead that he had “the same idea”.
Meanwhile, Bond producer Wilson also revealed last week the age of the actor who will next play 007 in the upcoming film.
