Gal Gadot Responds to People Who Body-Shamed Her in Wonder Woman

Even after starring in a film that grossed over $800 million worldwide and receiving acclaim for her work, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot said she's still dealing with body-shamers — but she's figured out the perfect response to them.

In her cover story with Rolling Stone, Gadot said people criticized her for not having the pinup proportions of earlier incarnations of Wonder Woman and argued that her body wasn't curvy enough for the role. "I told them, 'Listen, if you want to be for real, then the Amazons, they had only one b--b. Exactly one b--b," she said. "So what are you talking about here?

Me, having small b--bs and a small ass? That will make all the difference." In case you were wondering, mythology backs up Gadot's claim: Folklore has said for centuries that Amazon women removed their right bre-sts to have more control with their bows and arrows.

Gadot has opened up in the past about body-shaming and preparing for the role, which required her to gain 17 pounds of muscle. "I feel so much better now," Gadot told Glamour in March. "When you feel strong, it changes everything — your posture, the way you walk. I look at photos from five years ago and think, Whoa, I was too skinny. It's not cool." Gadot was also pregnant with her second child during filming, which required her to wear a green screen cut-out on her stomach to mask it.

It looks like body-shamers and Wonder Woman purists will have to get over their feelings on the actress' appearance pretty quickly; Gadot is set to star in the Wonder Woman sequel.
