Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton had an affair between 2000 and 2003
Before her marriage to Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie was married to actor and filmmaker Billy Bob Thornton, with whom she had a relationship between 2000 and 2003.
Back then, the couple became known for their eccentricities. Both wore a necklace with a medal stained with their blood as a "gesture of mutual love".
"We had been separated for a long time because she had been shooting 'Tomb Raider' in Cambodia, and she thought it would be very romantic if we cut a little finger, smeared the medallions with blood and put it on," Thornton confessed in an interview.
In a conversation with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the also Oscar winner spoke of the relationship they both had after 15 years of divorce.
"Those were wonderful years," he confessed. "Angie is still my friend, as well as a great person and a great professional. She makes the films that are important to her and she doesn't care if they are successes or failures, as long as she believes in the project she is there, and that is something that I will always respect," he added.
Regarding the reasons for her separation, she revealed that it was mainly due to her lifestyle. "I remember the years we spent together as a very good thing. The problem is that we had very different lifestyles. His was more global and mine was more agoraphobic (fear of open spaces). So that's really the only reason why which we probably won't be together anymore," he said.
