Bad Bunny Is Spotify's Most-Streamed Artist In The World For The Third Time

Goodbye green heart button, hello sad heart icon

It’s that time of year for Spotify listeners to unwrap their Spotify 2022 Wrapped round-up, and Bad Bunny has made history as the music platform’s most-streamed artist in the world for a record-breaking third year in a row, with more than 18.5 billion streams.

To honor his achievement, Spotify turned its classic green heart button into the singer’s custom red-heart icon from the album art of his fourth studio solo album, Un Verano Sin Ti, which also holds the distinction of being the world’s most-streamed album on Spotify this year. Adding more to the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter’s accomplishments, his tunes “Me Porto Bonito” with Chencho Corleon and “Tití Me Preguntó” take spots four and five in the top global songs of 2022 — behind other juggernauts “As It Was” from Harry Styles, “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals, and “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber.

Un Verano Sin Ti even made Billboard records in debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and becoming the album with the most weeks at No. 1 in 2022, making Benito the first artist to also reach top of the chart singing solely in Spanish. In addition, Bad Bunny held 24 simultaneous songs from the album on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

Taylor Swift follows as the second most-streamed artist of the year globally on Spotify, along with being the top artist in Australia, the U.K., Ireland, Malaysia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Qatar, Slovenia, and Singapore. Her most recent album, Midnights, landed at No. 4 spot on U.S. most-streamed albums. Trailing behind in Spotify's top five most-streamed artists category are Drake, The Weeknd, and BTS, in that order.

Bad Bunny is currently hosting his World’s Hottest Tour, which kicked off on August 5 and is the highest-grossing tour by a Latin artist in history. The tour will conclude on December 10 in Mexico City at the Estadio Azteca.
