“I Had a Commitment”: Dwayne Johnson Subtly Blames Vince McMahon’s $100 Million Creation For Ruining His NFL Dream

Dwayne Johnson has achieved great success in whatever venture he has gone into. He started off in WWE and become a huge star. Afterward, he took his talents to Hollywood and established himself as one of the biggest celebrities in the industry. Apart from this, he is also a successful businessman with his own brand of Tequila named Teremana, among other investments. A couple of years ago, he acquired the XFL, an alternative football league to the popular NFL, from ex-WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

The Rock was a college football player and is a fan of the sport. This was one of the reasons why he made the move to XFL after it failed to get-off for a second time in 2020.

Recently, The Hollywood star posted a video on his Twitter where he said that it was his dream to play in the NFL and he wished the XFL was around when he was younger.

Dwayne Johnson shares his NFL regret

A global icon like Dwayne Johnson can have few regrets after what he has achieved. He is one of the richest actors in Hollywood and has a passionate fanbase across the globe. The Rock did it all as a WWE star, which was his first shot at fame. However, he still regrets about not playing in the NFL despite giving it his full commitment.

Although he can longer play football professionally, The Brahma Bull is hoping to change the landscape of the sport. In 2020, DJ purchased the XFL, an alternate football league from former WWE CEO Vince McMahon in 2020 for $15 million. The XFL was first launched in 2001 and then went bankrupt after one season. Then in 2018, Vince McMahon announced the return of the league only to see it fold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a video he shared on Twitter, The Brahma Bull talked about how his goal was to play in the NFL, but despite his efforts, he couldn’t make it happen. He also wished that the XFL was around when he was younger.

“I Had a Commitment”: Dwayne Johnson Subtly Blames Vince McMahon’s $100 Million Creation For Ruining His NFL Dream

The Rock said, “As you guys know, my goal was to play in the NFL. That was my dream. I made a commitment at 16 years old that I’m gonna make it. Work my ass off, be the hardest worker in the room, make it to the NFL. Football was my ticket, but that never happened to me.”

Moreover, he added, “I wish XFL should have been around when I was coming out of University of Miami.”

But now The Rock hopes to fulfill the dreams of others to play professional football, which he couldn’t do himself. XFL has announced plans for its launch in 2023 and with The Great One pulling out all stops for the league, fans may just have an alternative to NFL on their hands.
