The actress plays Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO show
“Game of Thrones” has aired plenty of explicit s-x scenes, but star Emilia Clarke isn’t a fan of them.
In a new interview, the actress who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the hit HBO fantasy series called for more subtle s-x scenes on screen.
“S-x scenes should be more subtle,” Clarke said. “I’m British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway — I can’t stand it.”
Among the controversial s-x scenes on the HBO show, Clarke participated in one that shocked viewers during Season 1, when she made her arranged marriage to Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) official on her wedding night.
More recently, the show’s s-x scenes have garnered more attention. Viewers were turned off by a s-x scene in Season 4 when siblings Cersei and Jaime Lannister had s-x while their dead son, Joffrey Baratheon, lay nearby. Most recently, a number of fans were so outraged by Sansa Stark being raped on her wedding night, that they swore off the show for good.
“Most s-x scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they’re usually just to attract an audience,” Clarke continued. “On screen, the subtler the better.”
Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” began filming earlier this year, and is expected to premiere in Spring 2016.
