The wife of Bill Murray has filed for divorce, alleging the Groundhog Day star abused her and is addicted to alcohol and marijuana.
Jennifer Butler, Murray's wife of 11 years, filed papers in South Carolina, news agencies reported.
The complaint alleges frequent abandonment by the actor.
It details how in 2006 Butler moved with her children to South Carolina "due to defendant's adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behaviour, physical abuse, s-xual addictions, and frequent abandonment".
"The latest altercation occurred in November 2007 at Sullivan's Island when the defendant hit her in the face and then told her she was 'lucky he didn't kill her'," it added.
Murray's lawyer, John McDougall, wouldn't comment on the contents of the petition.
McDougall said the entertainer was "deeply saddened by the breakup of his marriage".
"He and his wife made loving parents and they are committed to the best interests of their children," the lawyer said.
The complaint alleges Murray would leave without telling his wife, and says he "travels overseas where he engages in public and private altercations and s-xual liaisons", agencies reported.
The 57-year-old actor has starred in the films Ghostbusters, Caddyshack and Groundhog Day.
