Kate Hudson Reveals She Pushed For Matthew McConaughey In How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
Kate Hudson revealed a fun fact from the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. While at BAFTA's Life In Pictures event, the 43-year-old actress commented that she fought to get Matthew McConaughey, 53, to star in the film opposite her.
We had an energy together, I wanted to play with him," she told the London audience after noting that she and executives "kept banging our heads against the wall." Adding: "Me and the studio didn't see eye to eye."
But that wasn't all, as she also said: "I'm a great cheerleader for actors in our industry, but for romantic comedies you need that guy to have chemistry with."
Kate, who is the daughter of Goldie Hawn, commented at the end that she had "approval of everything" regarding the Paramount film. When the director at the time, Sherry Lansing, asked who her first choice was for the male role of her, she named Matthew.
We both have a competitive spirit, we are both super athletic. We like to push each other and I love Matthew's commitment to everything; he is focused on the razor.
"What you think he is, he is," she gushed about her co-star during the panel a few days ago.
This follows her commenting to Jonathan Ross last month that she would "revisit" the rom-com if given the chance. "We both [Matthew and I] have the same feeling about it: if for some reason a great idea came up on our desk and it read well, yeah, I would totally revise it," she said.
I love working with Matthew. I don't know... I'm sure it would start with a marital conflict. Or maybe… I have no idea. How to lose a husband in 20 years...?', she propped up.
