Renée Zellweger denies having had plastic surgery

Victim of numerous rumours, René Zellweger responds in a column published by the Huffington Post: she denies having had recourse to cosmetic surgery and castigates the newspapers which relay this false information.

"I'm lucky. I exercise a creative profession, I have the opportunity to do something that pleases me and which sometimes has an impact” begins René Zellweger in a letter published in the Huffington Post. She adds: “It is well worth the problems it causes on a personal level.” The actress refers to the many rumors circulating about her, particularly concerning cosmetic surgery. Rumors that she considers humiliating and to which she refused to respond until today.

In 2014, a tabloid published an article indicating that the interpreter of “Bridget Jones” had had his eyes redone. "It's nobody's business but me, but I didn't make the decision to change my face or undergo cosmetic surgery around my eyes," says Renée Zellweger. Personal information that the actress feels obliged to disclose to restore the truth: “We know that the value of a woman is traditionally measured by her physical appearance. She's too skinny, too fat, she's aged, she looks better as a brunette, she has cellulite on her thighs, it seems she had a facelift, she loses her hair, she has a big belly unless she's pregnant. His shoes/feet/hands are ugly. Her smile/her dress/her laugh is ugly. (…) The resulting message is problematic for younger generations and impressionable people.”

"Gutter Journalism"

The actress then castigates newspapers, “gutter journalism” as she describes it. “The unfounded tabloid accusations, judgments and misconceptions should perhaps be relegated to low-level entertainment, to be replaced in serious newspapers by much more important and necessary discussions.” Renée Zellweger concludes this forum with a sentence: "Perhaps we could be more interested in the real problems facing us, and in the way of solving them."
