I'll be there for you! Sympathetic Meryl Streep consoles Jennifer Aniston as she loses out on another Best Actress gong at the SAG Awards
Meryl Streep was nominated seven times before she won her first Screen Actors Guild Award.
So she was the perfect friend to pick up Cake actress Jennifer Aniston on Sunday night, after she lost out on the SAG Award for Best Actress.
For Jennifer, 45, it was the latest in a string of disappointments after she lost to Julianne Moore at the Golden Globe Awards 2015 - who also swooped the SAG in Jennifer's category - and was snubbed for her first ever Oscar nomination earlier this month.
Jennifer's role in new film Cake has been dubbed 'an Oscar-worthy performance' though the Friends star hasn't been fortunate enough to pick up a prize this year - the SAGs being the last of her nominations for awards season.
Luckily, acting pal Meryl was right there with a shoulder to cry on inside the awards ceremony and gave her a comforting cuddle before she ate.
Jennifer approached the Academy Award winning Devil Wears Prada star at her table (where Meryl was talking to Pretty Woman actress Julia Roberts) before she was treated to a motherly embrace.
Jennifer appeared to pull a down-turned expression as she was consoled by the 65-year-old movie veteran.
Meryl won her first SAG Award in 2003 for Angels In America, after unfruitful nods for The Bridges of Madison County, The Hours and since then, The Devil Wears Prada.
The Hollywood star has gone on to win Best Actress awards at the Oscars (The Iron Lady), Critics' Choice Awards (Doubt) and Golden Globes (The Devil Wears Prada, Julie & Julia, The Iron Lady).
But since moving out of television with her career-defining role as Rachel in Friends, Jennifer has frequently found herself as the nominee but never the winner.
It was Julianne Moore who walked away with the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in Still Alice on Sunday night, where she starred alongside Kristen Stewart.
Traditionally Aniston has adopted roles in rom com roles - including Along Came Polly, Bruce Almighty, Marley & Me and We're The Millers - but this was one of her first dramas.
Jennifer plays Claire Bennett in Cake, who becomes fascinated by suicide as she attempts to overcome her personal tragedy in a chronic pain support group.
Speaking to Associated Press about the Oscars snub last month, Jennifer said: 'The truth is, this movie hasn't even come out yet. I feel so lucky that any of that has even happened on a movie that we started shooting not even a year ago.'
The actress addressed her move into serious roles as she questioned whether she was up for the challenge.
She continued: 'You start to lose trust in yourself that you can do something such as that. So you actually start to say, "Does the industry actually know something that I don't know? Can I do this?"
'It's been 25 years that I've been lucky enough to make a living doing what I love to do. So, to keep having surprises and to keep surprising myself is so exciting. And I just want to do more of that.'
On the night, the networking celebrity was surrounded by support with Julia Roberts, Kevin Costner and Maggie Gyllenhaal all reaching out to the star.
There was only one man who could lift Jennifer's spirits on the night though, and that was her gorgeous fiance Justin Theroux.
Jennifer, with her large ring finger sparkler on show, was lead into the venue by her man, which made her smile widely.
Justin and Jennifer announced their engagement in August 2012 but appear to be taking wedding plans at their own pace.
