Sharon Stone harshly criticizes the tendency to idealize Meryl Streep: There are other actresses as talented as her

Sharon Stone has been working tirelessly for years despite the fact that she lost her status as a Hollywood star a long time ago, and what she does not have is mincing words about her. A couple of years ago she coincided with Meryl Streep in 'The Laundromat. Dirty money', a film by Steven Soderbergh, and now he has positioned himself on how dangerous it is to idealize the triple Oscar winner.

She has been in an interview with Everything Zoomer where the actress has expressed her disappointment because she sometimes gives the feeling that the only really impressive actress is Streep and that everyone is willing to work:

The business has been organized in such a way that we should envy and admire Meryl because only she can be the good one. And everyone must compete against her. I think Meryl is a wonderful woman and actress, but in my opinion, honestly, there are other actresses just as talented as she is. All of Meryl Streep's iconography is part of what Hollywood does to women.

Viola Davis is just as good as Meryl Streep. Emma Thompson. Judy Davis. Olivia Colman. Kate Winslet, my god. But you say Meryl and they all fall to the ground. I'm a much better villain than Meryl and I'm sure she would say so too. Meryl was not going to do well in 'Basic Instinct' or 'Casino'. I know it and so does she.

The truth is that part of the reason is not lacking in the protagonist of 'Fast and deadly', since more than once she gave the feeling that Streep is always the greatest and no one has even come close to her level. Stone herself makes an eloquent comparison: "if we worked in a supermarket, she can't always be the number 1 cashier. We are doing our jobs. Everyone can improve and everyone can sometimes have a bad day."

In addition, Stone also mentioned Streep when she had to talk about the #MeToo movement: "I'm sure Meryl has a story, but I'm also sure if she told it, she wouldn't be Meryl and she wouldn't get those jobs."

To be clear; Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actors of all times. Just not to the exclusion of others.

Once her words have gone viral, Stone has clarified on twitter that Streep "is one of the best actors of all time", but that she does not exclude the rest of that conversation. Do you agree with Stone or do you think she has been unlucky with her words?
