The reason for Liam Neeson's extreme thinness

After being surprised by his extreme thinness in some photographs, actor Liam Neeson explained that he had to lose weight for his role in the movie Silence, the new film by director Martin Scorsese.

"Martin (Scorsese) wanted all of us to be skinnier," the Irish artist told Entertainment Tonight, referring to his co-stars Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield.

The protagonist of Taken had been photographed months ago during a walk in New York and his physical appearance drew a lot of attention from his admirers: he was very skinny and with an emaciated face.

Immediately, both on the networks and in different media, speculation began that the artist could be ill.

Speaking to Variety magazine, Neeson commented: "Scorsese works 200%, and he only asks you to give 100%. It's scary. He demands absolute silence on the set: if he hears the slightest sound, he goes into a rage."

Neeson plays Cristovâo Ferreira, a renegade Jesuit in feudal Japan who, after being arrested and tortured, agrees to integrate into Japanese society.

Silence -which opens at the end of 2016- is Neeson's second work with Martin Scorsese after Gangs of New York.
