In a statement to The Sunday Times, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed that Prince Harry had received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation. However, it was not yet confirmed whether or not they would attend the event, as an immediate decision on their attendance would not be disclosed by the couple at this time.
A palace insider had previously stated that the couple would be invited to the coronation, though relations between the Sussexes and the royal family have remained strained since the release of Prince Harry's memoir in January.
It is not clear if the couple would bring their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with them to the U.K., or if they would play any role in the coronation events.
The trip to the U.K. would also coincide with Prince Harry's involvement in a damages case against Mirror Group Newspapers, which is set to begin just three days after the coronation. It is uncertain whether Prince Harry would appear as a witness in the case.
Even Oprah Winfrey has weighed in on the matter, stating that the couple should do what they feel is best for themselves and their family.
