Despite her famous sofa scene in We Own The Night, where she pleasured herself opposite Joaquin Phoenix, the actress claims that she is not a fan of intim-te scenes on the big screen. Having grown up with the ambition of becoming a nun, Mendes finds love scenes to be awkward and unpleasant.
She has managed to avoid them for the most part and when she comes across a love scene in a script, she carefully discusses it with the director to see if it can be cut out. She believes that simulated s-x scenes are rarely appropriate and tries to avoid them whenever possible.
However, Mendes has taken on roles that required her to strip down for the camera, and she appears topless in a post-coital scene with her real-life boyfriend and co-star, Ryan Gosling, in the upcoming film, The Place Beyond The P-nes. Gosling reportedly helped preserve Mendes' modesty during the scene by cupping her br-ast.
