Gal Gadot Faces Backlash Over Israel-Palestine Comments

Gal Gadot, the Israel-born actress and star of the Wonder Woman franchise, recently spoke out about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. In an Instagram post, Gadot expressed her concern for her country and her people, and called for an end to the violence.

However, her pro-peace stance has been met with both support and criticism. Some have taken issue with her use of the term "neighbors" to describe the Palestinians amid the ongoing rocket-firing conflict, as well as her past service in the Israel Defense Forces. Writer-activist Aaron Vallely accused Gadot of being tone-deaf, while singer-songwriter James Kennedy claimed that Israel is "butchering" Palestine.

Others, such as political reporter Ben Jacobs, have noted the vile and anti-Semitic attacks that Gadot has been receiving online. Despite the controversy, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has publicly supported Gadot, tweeting "God bless Gal Gadot."

The current wave of violence began with Israel evicting dozens of Palestinians from East Jerusalem, which sparked protests. Hamas responded by firing over 1,000 rockets into Jerusalem, and Israel has retaliated with hundreds of strikes of its own. As a result, seven Israelis have been killed by rocket fire, and dozens of Palestinians, including 16 children, have lost their lives

The situation remains tense and deeply concerning, and it is unclear how the conflict will ultimately be resolved.
