According to an insider, Montserrat Bernabeu, the mother of Gerard Pique,
helped him conceal his affair with Clara Chia Marti from his partner at the
time, Shakira.
A Spanish media outlet reported that Pique and the 23-year-old PR student were living in one of his parents' homes, and Montserrat did not inform the Waka Waka singer about it.
Journalist Laura Fa claimed that Montserrat was an accomplice in hiding the relationship, even as Shakira turned to her for support.
Following her split from Gerard, Shakira reportedly built a wall between her and his parents' home, and their relationship turned sour after she saw them spending time with Clara.
The singer allegedly even asked her sons to stop calling Montserrat "grandmother."
